Hey everyone,

I wanted to bump my other journal off the front page because it looks tacky and long and takes up a lot of space. So, here's an update journal and a bit of a question.

I just finished updating two of my recent pieces and I've been really pushing myself to do something different. With the Sky Dragon picture, I wanted to try out a background and do something I tend to avoid. Like I said in the description, I decided I want just smooth layers for the backgrounds and instead of trying to layer and layer colored pencils I would try different mediums.

The medium I made use of in the picture is water color colored pencils. Wow, what a long name. Anyway, I had fun playing around with them but they're so different than colored pencils and water colors. Hopefully I can get used to them because they seem a lot cleaner than normal water colors. If you have any advice, that'd be great.

Other mediums I hope to use at some point are soft pastels and oil pastels. I love the feel and texture of soft pastels and the "soft"-ness they add to every piece. This is exactly what I want to go for in most of my backgrounds. As for oil pastels, they make such amazing colors and textures and it would be great for more dramatic pieces. I can't wait to use them!
